Word for Today:

June 8th, 2011

My word for today is “proactive”.  And It is almost 9 AM and I need to get busy and act on it.

An excerpt from Wikipedia for the definition of “proactive”:

The author, Austrian existentialist, Dr. Viktor Frankl,  used the word proactive to describe a person who took responsibility for his or her life, rather than looking for causes in outside circumstances or other people. Frankl stressed the importance of courage, perseverance, individual responsibility and awareness of the existence of choices, regardless of the situation or context.

Year’s ago his book, Man’s Search for Meaning, inspired me. I may be guilty of “old-think”, but on the other hand some things are timeless. I could go on and on about my sadness that so many ideas and values of the past are forgotten. Maybe another day.
